Garden Tour Locations
Inspired by growing up on a farm, Linda grew a love for nature and finds much joy working in her yard. Her garden is filled with sentiment because some plants have been given by family and friends along with other eclectic items you will discover in her backyard. The focal point is a set of tall columns Linda received as a gift from her mother when she graduated with her Master’s Degree. Her husband and sons set them in the ground as a surprise for her when she returned home. If you love gardens, you'll appreciate Linda's quote: "It's memories that make a garden!"
Enjoy strolling through these glorious gardens that boast charming waterfall, coy pond, wrought iron gates, historic finds, and statues. The Goff’s purchased this 1870 historical home in 2006 and literally planted roots. Judy’s mother, Arlene Campbell, was a highly regarded gardener and was a Charter Member of Dogwood Garden Club, formed in January 1982. Judy dug up hellebores, peonies, iris, wood hyacinth, and more from her mother’s yard and family farm, including some that had been given to Arlene from her mother. Many plants also came from Pat’s family that were transported to Carthage.
Continuing the legacy of the love of gardening from Sherry’s grandmother they call theirs, organized chaos with cottage flair. They are the epitome of tag team! Steve is the yard & garden guy and works tirelessly to make his vision a reality. Sherry picks the color theme, throws out a few ideas and puts out all the "pretties". Their front yard is beautiful but their wisteria covered pergola, covered back porch and old fashioned vegetable garden are definitely their favorite outdoor spaces.
Homeowner, Susan Knost, keeps adding new garden beds and features to her farmhouse landscape with a scenic valley overlooking Spring River. You’ll be greeted by colorful, metal donkeys, cactus, and even a coyote that flings you back to Susan’s past growing up in Texas. You will be sure to enjoy this rustic farm with a fish pond, outdoor seating area, windmill, bottle tree arbor, and you might even see a few chickens.
The E.L. Dale Memorial Garden nestled just outside the tranquil Carthage Public Library (an original Carnegie Library), features a whimsical touch with its centerpiece - an enchanting Alice in Wonderland statue. Crafted by the talented sculptor Bill Snow, this delightful statue captures the essence of Lewis Carroll’s beloved tale, evoking a sense of wonder and imagination. Surrounded by vibrant flora and serene pathways, the garden serves as a serene oasis, paying homage to E.L. Dale’s legacy.
The Rev. Steven C. Wilson Memorial Bible Garden and Labyrinth was started in 2008. Fr. Steve’s dream was to have a Bible Garden with plants mentioned in scripture as the focus. The focal point of this garden turned out to be the Helen Boylan Memorial Labyrinth, based on the floor of a 12th century French Cathedral. The garden also has raised beds for flowers, herbs and vegetables.. The Bible Garden and Labyrinth are masterfully cared for by Larry and Ruth Hartman.
